Frankie is a young equestrian from Canada who continues riding and caring for her horses even through the harsh winter months. In this Venustas User Story, discover how heated apparel helps her stay warm, move freely in the saddle, and keep doing what she loves—no matter how cold it gets.
At Venustas, we believe the most meaningful stories come from the people who wear our gear in their passion lives.
That’s why we created this space to share real experiences from our community—stories of people who continue pursuing what they love, even when conditions are challenging.
Today’s story features Frankie, a young equestrian who lives with her family on a small farm and cares for seven horses. Riding is a regular part of her life, and winter conditions in Canada often make it especially demanding. Since discovering Venustas heated apparel, Frankie has been able to stay warm while continuing her riding routine and daily horse care.
By sharing stories like Frankie’s, we hope to highlight the many different ways people show commitment to what they love—and how the right gear can quietly support those moments.

Frankie is a 9-year-old equestrian who has grown up with horses as part of her everyday life. She lives with her family on a small farm where seven horses are kept, and caring for them is part of her daily routine. From feeding and chores to riding and training, horses have always been a central part of her life.
Frankie first fell in love with riding at a young age while spending time around her mom’s horse, Lacey. At five years old, she received her first pony, Merlin. Like many Welsh ponies, Merlin was clever and full of personality, and riding him helped Frankie develop balance, independence, and confidence early on.
A few years later, Frankie began riding her current pony, Humphrey, who has helped her progress in jumping and begin her journey into eventing. She still regularly rides Merlin and Lacey as part of her training and daily riding routine.
At home, Frankie spends much of her time riding along farm trails and even building small cross-country obstacles to practice with her ponies. Caring for horses doesn’t pause for weather—and neither does she.

In Canada, winter riding requires real determination. Temperatures can fall to –30°C, and conditions often dictate what kind of riding is possible. Frankie rides at least three times a week, adjusting her routine depending on footing and safety.
On safe snow days, she trains on her home course. She also trailers to a nearby stable for lessons. On lighter days, she keeps things simple—bareback rides in the round pen or quiet trail rides through the woods. In between, there are still chores to be done.
Before using heated apparel, winter was often the hardest part of Frankie’s riding routine. Staying warm usually meant layering several thick sweaters and jackets, which made her feel bulky in the saddle and restricted her movement. Riding requires steady hands and free arm movement to hold the reins and communicate clearly with the pony, but heavy layers often made that more difficult.
Even with all those layers, the cold still found its way in. The damp winter air could make long lessons uncomfortable, and her hands and feet would gradually grow cold during rides or while helping with chores around the barn. Sometimes the cold made it harder for her to stay relaxed and focused, turning winter training days into something she simply had to push through rather than enjoy.
Before Frankie started wearing Venustas heated apparel, her family had been searching for a better way to keep her warm during winter riding. Layering heavy jackets often made it harder for her to move comfortably in the saddle, so they were always looking for something that could provide warmth without restricting her movement.
They first heard about Venustas from the parent of another young equestrian in Canada. After seeing how well the heated gear worked for their child during winter riding, Frankie’s family decided to give it a try. It quickly became clear that heated apparel was a practical solution for long training sessions and daily chores in cold weather.

Frankie now usually rides in her Venustas heated puffy vest during the winter. One of the biggest differences is how much easier it is for her to move. Before, staying warm meant wearing several thick layers, which made her feel bulky and restricted in the saddle. With the vest, her core stays warm while her arms remain free, so she can hold the reins and ride naturally without feeling weighed down.
The vest layers smoothly under her riding gear and crash vest without adding bulk, which allows Frankie to stay warm while still riding safely and comfortably. And the slightly higher collar helps keep the wind from creeping in around her neck. That small detail makes a noticeable difference when she’s outside for long periods of time.
Another thing Frankie likes is that she can adjust the heat depending on what she’s doing. When she first heads out into the cold, the extra warmth helps her get comfortable quickly. After riding for a while, once she starts warming up from the activity, she can simply turn the heat down.
Even when she isn’t using the heating function, the vest still works well as a warm outer layer. The water-repellent shell helps keep light snow and moisture off during winter rides and chores around the farm.
Frankie also wears Venustas heated socks, which help keep her feet warm during long rides and while working outside with the horses. Together, these small things make winter riding much more comfortable, allowing Frankie to focus on her ponies instead of the cold.
There’s also a funny moment Frankie’s family likes to share when talking about her Venustas vest. The day was particularly cold in the indoor arena. There was no wind, but the damp air and low temperatures made it painfully cold. Frankie was riding alongside two of her best friends, who often tease her for being “a baby” about the cold—very much that classic Canadian mindset where toughness is tied to enduring freezing temperatures.
About ten minutes into the lesson, Frankie asked her mom to hold the jacket she had been wearing over the heated vest because she was actually too warm. Not long after, one of the same friends who had been teasing her asked where the vest came from. Because she was freezing and didn’t want to keep riding.
Frankie’s parents also appreciate how easy the vest is to use in everyday life. The battery is simple to charge and install, and it has quickly become part of Frankie’s regular winter routine that she can manage on her own. The visible indicator light also makes it easy for them to see which heat setting she’s using without interrupting her ride or asking her to take the vest off.
Moments like this are a good reminder of how much of a difference the right gear can make. For Frankie, staying warm simply means she can focus on riding, caring for her horses, and enjoying the time she spends in the saddle, even in the middle of winter.

Frankie may be young, but her spirit is anything but small. Before sunrise and long after the temperature drops, she shows up—for her ponies, for her responsibilities, and for the passion that keeps her moving forward. She balances school, hard work, and dedication with a determination far beyond her years. She reminds us that being a hero isn’t about age, titles, or trophies. It’s about commitment, consistency, and showing up again and again.
When someone carries that kind of drive, the world shouldn’t slow her down. She deserves more than bulky layers and frozen fingers. She deserves warmth that works quietly in the background—removing limits instead of adding weight—so she can focus on what she loves and how far she wants to go. Because potential doesn’t wait for perfect conditions. That’s the spirit behind every Venustas design: supporting everyday heroes, at every age, so nothing stands between them and what inspires them.
